My esteemed colleague, Dr. Stephen Metz, will be retiring from PPA on December 31st – after 16 years in practice together. I will miss him greatly, but at the same time I am happy to see him reap the reward for so many hard years of work and service to the Tucson Pediatric Pulmonary community. I have thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of working alongside a fantastic doctor. I am humbled by how much he is beloved and respected by all of you – patients and physicians alike.
Dr. Metz graduated from St. Louis University and received his medical degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago. He completed his 3 years Residency in Pediatrics at Oklahoma Children’s Memorial Hospital. He served as Chief Resident in General Pediatrics and completed his 3 years Fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonary at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. He joined me in 2000. Dr. Metz is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Please be assured that there will be a seamless transition at PPA, and that we will continue the same mission of education, trust, and availability.
I am ready to see all of our PPA patients beginning January 1 with expanded clinic hours. Our new office hours will be Monday and Tuesday 8 am – 6 pm. Outreach to Safford will continue every month, and Outreach to Sierra Vista will be increased to every other month.
I will be available for urgent patient calls 24-7-365. Sam and Yaya will be there, as always, to provide support to all of us.
I look forward to continuing the great care Dr. Metz has always provided!
